Every year, three lakh wheelchairs are sold in India, of which two and half lakh are imported. 95% of all wheelchairs sold in India are one-size-fits-all. They restrict mobility, damage health, and lower self-confidence. Few wheelchair users can safely and independently transfer into tricycles and modified scooters. How can we expect the majority of wheelchair users to go outdoors? NeoMotion is here to transform this !

NeoMotion, an IIT Madras startup, creates transformative products for wheelchair users (elderly, physically challenged) to enable them to be an inclusive part of society. NeoMotion works with NGOs, Foundation and CSR bodies to implement impactful projects in the space of Disability. The projects are majorly looking to achieve the SDG10 Goal of Reduced Inequalities. While the end-beneficairy is a person with disability, the impact thematic areas also encompass Education, Livelihood and Para-Sports. NeoMotion was recently featured on the popular show SHARK TANK INDIA The initial products developed by NeoMotion are - NeoFly is a personalized wheelchair designed to enhance health and lifestyle. 18 customizations ensure a perfect fit to the user’s body. NeoBolt is a motor-powered clip-on which converts NeoFly into a safe, roadworthy vehicle. It is designed to enable wheelchair users to go out into the world, explore life, get employed and have fun! NeoBolt eliminates the need to transfer into other vehicles and can be independently attached by the user within seconds. It has a maximum speed of 25 kmph and travels up to 25 km per charge. RampMyCity (RMC) is a social startup on a mission to make public spaces in India truly accessible for persons with disabilities and the elderly. Founded in 2020 by Prateek Khandelwal, a wheelchair user and accessibility advocate, RampMyCity works at the intersection of inclusion, infrastructure, and impact. What began as a personal response to inaccessible spaces has grown into a national movement that has transformed over 600 public places—including schools, hospitals, parks, police stations, banks, workplaces, restaurants, and heritage sites—across cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Kochi, Mysuru, and Indore.

At the core of RampMyCity’s work is a practical approach: identify existing barriers, conduct on-ground accessibility assessments, and implement low-cost, high-impact infrastructure solutions such as ramps, disabled-friendly toilets, accessible furniture, and inclusive play equipment. All modifications follow government standards, are built for durability, and are designed to blend seamlessly into existing spaces. RMC also supports long-term change by conducting sensitization workshops, training staff, and helping institutions understand how accessibility is not just compliance—it's inclusion.

RMC's work is fully funded through CSR partnerships with companies that believe in equity and inclusion. We collaborate closely with governments, schools, corporates, and civil society to drive systemic change. Whether it’s transforming rural schools or reimagining urban main streets, RampMyCity is proving that accessibility doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated—it just needs intent.

The organization’s impact and vision have earned widespread recognition. RampMyCity has been featured by major media like BBC and CNN, won awards including NCPEDP‑Mphasis Universal Design Award 2021 and CNN‑Network18 Award 2022, and its founder Prateek has received the prestigious President’s Award 2024 for social entrepreneurship.

With growing city teams, a replicable model, and deep community engagement, RampMyCity is creating a new normal—where every person, regardless of ability, can move freely, with dignity and independence. We’re not just improving infrastructure. We’re removing barriers to opportunity, participation, and equality.
